Summer and Corona have returned. Still had a lovely birthday lunch

Can’t believe it is nearly 2 months ago since I last wrote a blog. The freedom after the Corona measures had been practically all lifted has resulted in a whirl of social activities of which the last my Birthday Lunch last week.
Not my usual thing, as though I love to see my loved ones, the interrupting of my quiet boring lifestyle is very tiring. Not good for my writing either.
Alas because the people, mainly youth, in the capital city of my province have completely ignored any rules, we, even in the sleepiest of villages, have been curtailed again, even more than last time.
It is mask-wearing now at all times, even when you are on your bike or strolling in nature.
Today I saw many more cars on the road, because people who are used to do their shopping on a bike, now probably choose to use their car because they don’t want to wear a mask while exercising. The same will count for going a day out with a group of friends on the bike.
WE are- on paper- only allowed 5 people in close vicinity. That wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t the same people and that for 4 weeks.
They are so worried that the kids won’t be able to attend school in September and they have to- oh shock and horror, have to look after and teach them themselves. The whole population of our mainly rural province is under social lockdown.
Of course, you can mingle with 50 total strangers in stuffy supermarkets, 200 in cinemas, 400 in outdoor events.
In restaurants, you can remove the mask if you are sitting down as then apparently the virus is not present anymore.
We have all become Chinese and Saudis, about whom we have always so tut-tutted because they don’t give their people the personal freedom to dress and act as they want.
One university here even has set a rule that religious Arab girls can’t cover their faces or wear hijabs! Now we all have to cover our faces. Wonder when one of the government virologists comes up with the idea hair spreads viruses and we have to go full cover.

But enough, just the numbers for our posterity.

My organic vegetable garden

Reached my 66th birthday in reasonably good health. When you think that 18 years ago I had brain surgery to remove a tumour and heart surgery to put in some stents about 8 years ago, I can’t complain.
I did go to mainly organic food, pescatarian or vegetarian food and trying to take my bike instead of the car.
Retiring a few years ago has done a lot for my mental health as did the writing.
So I hope to be still writing in my blog in 2021.

The editing of my book has nearly come to an end. I will then have it read by my two beta readers.
After that, I intend to find a good editor to look for plot holes, tension, inconsistencies etc.
The second half went twice as fast as I had already edited it every time before I went on with the new writing. I will keep doing that in the future when I write my second one of the duology.
The story has grown on me after improving on it. I feel like wanting to find out what happens in the next book.
I already outlined the first 5 chapters in Scrivener.
I’m now creating small vignettes in Inkarnate, the mapmaking tool, to accompany the chapters.
It is my relaxation point of the day.
I can’t draw to safe my life, so it’s great to be able to make a picture using a toolbox with lots of beautifully drawn pictures.
Right! That was it, back to the editing.
